About Me

Hi, I’m Vivek Kumar, a full stack engineer and co-founder with 11 years of experience building backend systems that have to work at scale.

I co-founded ThePetNest, a marketplace for pet care services, where I built the booking engine, real-time GPS tracking and availability system from scratch. We grew to 200,000+ users and ~$2M in revenue. The hard problems like concurrent bookings, race conditions, AWS cost blowouts are what I write about here.

Before ThePetNest, I worked across engineering teams in India and Europe: Caroobi (Germany), Homebell (Germany), Warehousing1 (Germany). I’ve been building APIs, microservices and distributed systems across all of them.

Stack: Ruby on Rails, Node.js, React, Python, Redis, MySQL, AWS, Sidekiq, Jenkins.
